Originally from New England, Coach Joshua Trevino ran cross-country and track for the Division I Black Bears of the University of Maine. In his senior year he served as captain of his team and returned in the Fall of 2011 as an assistant coach both for the University of Maine and Bangor High School.
Coach Trevino comes to North Phoenix Prep from the University of Dallas where he completed his doctoral studies in political philosophy and continued to pursue running through the marathon. Highlights from his marathon career include: a 5th place finish (1st American) in the 2007 San Antonio Marathon; a 25th place finish at the 2010 US Marathon Championships; and a personal best of 2:24.
Coach Trevino brings a philosophic approach to running and coaching which will cultivate in North Phoenix Prep’s young scholar-athletes the habits of living and running well.
As a former player and youth league coach, Jesse DiMartino is a strong believer in the fundamentals of football. Coach DiMartino's philosophy, "Being consistent in who we are and what we do on the football field". Jesse DiMartino leads his football players with passion, and believes in motivating his team to be individuals with character, on and off the field.He is intentional about winning. Winning is result of a great preparation and execution. DiMartino specializes in start up's and realizes that it takes time and tremendous focus to establish a winning culture. As Head Football Coach, DiMartino, carries the responsibilty of building a team of competitive Gladiators that win games.
"Coach D" understands and embraces the combination of high academic standards and top notch athletics that is required at North Phoenix Prep.
Brendon Zastrow began playing football in Junior High at Western Beaver located in Southwestern PA. In High School he was a 3 year letterman in football, and a 4 year letterman in track. His football positions were Tailback and Defensive-back. He was selected as Senior Captain & went on to win the Scholar Athlete Award. Brendon went on to pursue a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Penn State University.
Known as Coach "Z", his coaching experience & accomplishments began in 2006. Since that time he has coached numerous flag and tackle football teams of various age groups. Many of his teams have competed for the championship game in their respective seasons. Coach "Z" emphasizes fundamentals, but places the utmost emphasis on having fun with a spirit of excellence.
As Defensive Coordinator, Coach Z, will be sure to build a Gladiator defense that is ready to compete at a high level.
Jim Wosachlo (aka "Coach J") is an investor and self motivator. Encouraging & promoting others to be there best are his pursuits. He was taught football at a young age and played throughout his life.
As Offensive Coordinator, "Coach J" will be responsible to prepare a dynamic offense that puts points on the scoreboard.
Coach J also owns a coaches whistle & a pair of cleats.
Offensive/Defensive Line Coach
"Coach Hox" grew up in Western Nebraska on the farm. After a successful high school career, he went on to play football at Division III Wheaton College. At Wheaton, Coach Hox played offensive line and helped lead his team to a 12-1 season and ranked 4th in the nation his senior year. In 2004, Coach Hox moved to Phoenix where he taught and coached football for two years at Scottsdale Christian Academy. After SCA, Coach Hox assisted the freshman football team at Chaparral High School, and also served as the character coach. He is excited to be a part of North Phoenix Prep's new football team and is looking forward to a successful season. Coach Hox is the youth pastor at Camelback Bible Church in Paradise Valley and is married to Sarah. He has three great kids, Michael, Molly, and Brady.
Special Teams Coach
Coach “K” grew up in the Midwest. Son of a hard working papermaker, Keith learned the value of hard work and sportsmanship at a young age. After a successful high school career in which he captained his football, basketball, and baseball teams to winning seasons, coach K played 2 years at NCAA division III Wisconsin Eau-Claire. He earned the job of starting QB his sophomore year, where his career was cut short after suffering a broken leg while running the great Link Walker’s “option” offense.
Coach K moved to Phoenix in 1992. He has coached youth football the last three seasons , and specializes in teaching fundamentals in offense and special teams. Keith is the Finance Director at Honda of Superstition Springs and is married to Maria. He has two children Courtney and Jakob. Coach K is excited to be a part of North Phoenix Prep football and will focus primarily on special teams and offense.
